Every superhero movie is now expected to be a massive hit and make a billion

Its become ridiculous. Superhero/comic book movies aren't by default special, yet everyone treats them as such.

Everytime its not a megahit, its a big deal and people want to analyze why. Of course, these movies cost $$$ to make, so it matters, but money spent != quality and never has been.

Some of them are good, some aren't, like any other movie. But the ridiculous hype and massive marketing have contributed to the assumption that all of them are must see.

It should not be like that, and finally we are seeing that. Superhero fatigue is a thing, but there's nothing about this genre that makes them better by default.
