In Spiderman (2002), J. Jonah Jameson lies to the Green Goblin to protect Peter Parker. What are other examples of "bad" characters doing honorable actions?

In the movie, JJJ, until that scene, just seemed like a egotistical person that doesn't care about anybody or anything besides himself. But then he lied about not knowing the person who takes the pictures of Spiderman, just to protect Peter. I just love this kinda of scenes, where good actions come from the characters you least expect. Notice that I don't necessarily mean the bad guys (but it can be!), but the characters that are not exactly good people. Can somebody else give examples of this kind of trope?
