For example, I always found it kinda cool that Bryan Singer, who is most well-known for the X-Men franchise, was the director of the 90's classic The Usual Suspects. Also just recently learned that Luc Besson, who wrote and directed Leon: The Professional, also wrote the Taken franchise.
I'm sure there are so many writers/directors who made cult classics/hidden gems who then forayed into the blockbuster space, because that happens a lot.
