Not that it makes me an expert, but I deployed to Afghanistan as infantry early on and then reclassed to a medic and deployed again; the scene in The Thin Red Line where Sean Penn runs to meet up with the gut shot soldier to give him morphine is the best 2 minutes in any war movie ever.

Not saving Private Ryan, not platoon, not apocalypse now. That is the best scene.
