Growing up with this film I already appreciated it. The cinematography stands out. The score is phenomenal.
The writing is wooden at times, but overall well written.
But god damn, can we talk about Gibson’s performance in it? Despite his troubled history and just delusion now, that dude gave a helluva performance.
When he spouts “…I hate you.”
I cried. Literally cried. I felt everything that was taken from him in that moment.
Anyway, still holds up, mostly.
