Yul Brynner gave the performance of a life time as Ramses in The Ten Commandments (1956). Even Charlton Heston was impressed

Dude is so good. He is SO good as the Pharoh. He is stubborn, jealous, cruel, angry and emotional all the while being the most stoic, charismatic unshakeable wall of a man you've ever seen. His steel focused gaze never wavering.

And his performance progressively improves through the movie. After he's crowned Pharoh the acting starts to be even more Shakespearean.

Also he's fuckinf gorgeous. Apparently he was lifting weights to prepare for the shirtless role. And it absolutely shows. At some angles you can see his abs.

Also the costume department swung for the fucking fences with whatever he wore. Holy shit he had so much drip.

It's really something to co-star in such an intense power play of a movie against another massive talent like the legendary Charlton Heston and walk away having earned his praise.

Also just phenomenal movie over all. Everyonr acted their hearts out.

There 15k people and 15k animals used as extras. Mother of god. Those epic Hollywood movies of old were spectacles. submitted by /u/Wonder-Lad
